Atmospheric Science</p><div class=""><br class=""></div><p class="MsoNormal">(1) Research Assistantship in NASA Remote Sensing of Land
Use/Cover (SARI)</p><p class="MsoNormal">Applications are invited for a 2-year Graduate Research
Assistant starting at the M.S. level (including either a terminal M.S. or
non-terminal M.S. leading to a Ph.D.) beginning Fall 2018 in the Earth System
Science or Atmospheric Science programs at the University of Alabama in
Huntsville (UAH). The selected applicant will be fully funded to work with Dr.
Krishna Vadrevu (NASA Marshall Space Flight Center) and Dr. Robert Griffin
(UAH) on a project related to satellite remote sensing of land use/land cover
changes focusing on South and Southeast Asian countries. The goal of the South/Southeast Asia Research
Initiative (SARI) is to develop an innovative regional research program
involving state-of-the-art remote sensing, natural sciences, engineering and
social sciences to enrich Land Cover/Land Use Change (LCLUC) science in
South/Southeast Asia. SARI is a NASA Land Cover/Land Use Change Program
sponsored regional initiative. The
potential candidate is expected to have background training in geographic
information systems (GIS), remote sensing, geography, ecology, atmospheric
science or other related disciplines. S/he must have strong written and oral
communication skills in English. Programming experience is strongly desired,
such as Python, R, or MATLAB (but not mandatory), as is an interest in conducting limited travel and fieldwork in the region.</p><div class=""><br class=""></div><p class="MsoNormal">(2) Research Assistantship(s) in NASA Applied Earth
Sciences, GIS, Remote Sensing (NASA SERVIR)</p><p class="MsoNormal">Applications are invited for Graduate Research Assistants at
the M.S. level beginning Fall 2018 with NASA SERVIR and Dr. Robert Griffin at the
University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). The selected applicant(s) will be fully
funded to pursue a M.S. in Earth System Science on selected Earth science
application areas of relevance to SERVIR and with focus on either the Southeast
Asia region (natural disasters-related research) or Eastern and Western Africa

USAID, the SERVIR project (<a href="http://servirglobal.net" class="">servirglobal.net</a>) works in partnership with leading
organizations worldwide to help developing countries use Earth observing satellites
and geospatial technologies to assess environmental conditions and climate

in geospatial sciences, applied or environmental sciences, engineering or
related field, basic programming experience, a desire to experience
international travel and research, and an interest in global development issues
related to water-related disasters, agriculture, ecosystems, water resources,
