<p>This is a position in the Department of Geography and
Anthropology for a Climatologist. Candidates for this position
will be expected to establish a rigorous extramurally-funded
research program and teach courses in the Department of
Geography and Anthropology<em>. </em>Research and teaching
areas could include but are not limited to coastal climatology,
tropical systems, regional climate modeling/downscaling, natural
hazards and/or climate-society interactions that will develop as
synergies in the department and LSU in coastal processes and
air-sea interfaces<em>. </em>Candidates will be expected to
interact with faculty in Southern Regional Climate Center
(SRCC), Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP), South
Central Climate Science Center (SC CSC), and Disaster Science
Management (DSM) programs and other faculty in the Department of
Geography and Anthropology. There are opportunities to work with
other departments and programs at LSU such as College of the
Coast and the Environment, School of Renewal Natural Resources,
Center of Computation and Technology, and Civil and
Environmental Engineering.</p>
<p><u>Job Responsibilities </u></p>
<p>Develop and maintain a rigorous, externally funded research and
publication program (50%).</p>
<p>Teach courses applicable to the expertise of the applicant in
climatology and physical geography within the needs of the
Departments of Geography and Anthropology (50%).</p>
<p><u>Minimum Qualifications</u></p>
<p>Ph.D. in Geography and/or related Earth Sciences</p>
<p><u>Special Qualifications</u></p>
<p>Skills in data processing and spatial statistical analysis are
essential with skills in GIS and computer programming as a plus.</p>
<p><u>Job Competencies</u></p>
<p>Demonstrated potential to sustain an active research, both
individually and collaboratively, program, strong publication
record, and ability to provide quality mentoring and teaching to
undergraduate and graduate students.</p>
