                                                <p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:HelveticaNeue;color:rgb(51,51,51)">We are seeking an extraordinary individual to serve as Director of the Geography
Program in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
(UNL), a public land grant research university and member of the Big10 Academic
Alliance with enrollment of over 25,000 students. We seek a Director who will guide the
rebuilding of Geography at UNL and provide strategic leadership and vision to promote
excellence in research, education, and outreach; effectively manage resources at a
time of transformation and opportunity; be instrumental in fundraising and alumni/ae
relations; play a key role in developing strong relationships between Geography and
other units in the college and across the university; and maintain a vigorous research
program.

                                                <p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:HelveticaNeue;color:rgb(51,51,51)">The Director must have a broad vision for how Geography contributes to our
understanding of human-environment interactions. The Director will have a mandate to
rebuild Geography, including hiring faculty, initially in the area of Human Geography,
with particular interest in human-environment interactions, the Great Plains, and
research programs that integrate geospatial technologies. In addition, the Director will
work to enhance Geography’s research profile, grow the undergraduate major, and
reinvigorate the graduate program.

                                                <p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:HelveticaNeue;color:rgb(51,51,51)">Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Geography from an accredited college or
university and current rank as an established associate professor or full professor;
evidence of administrative experience; evidence of excellence in teaching; a strong and
active record of refereed publications and funded research; and a broad vision for how
Geography contributes to an understanding of human-environment interactions.

                                                <p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:HelveticaNeue;color:rgb(51,51,51)">Preferred qualifications include proven success in academic leadership in the context
of shared governance and transparent decision-making; experience with program
building; excellent communication skills; experience managing financial and human
resources; and an understanding of the breadth of geography and of potential
collaborations between geography and other disciplines.
