The specific research project involves assimilation of all-sky satellite radiances into the numerical weather prediction models with the consideration of the cloud-contamination and dust-induced effects. </span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt'> </span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt'>Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Atmospheric Sciences and relevant fields, a strong background in one or more of the following fields: satellite meteorology, radiative transfer, cloud microphysics, and data assimilation, proficiency with high-resolution atmospheric models such as WRF and HWRF, and strong programming abilities (familiarity with Linux, FORTRAN, IDL or Matlab, and Python are desirable) and excellent writing skills.</span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt'> </span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt'>The position can be started as early as January 2018, though the starting date is negotiable based on mutual interests. The initial appointment will be one year, renewable for two or more years depending on the performance and funding availability. Salary will be competitive based on experience and qualification.
