<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html charset=us-ascii"></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div class="">Two postdoctoral positions are available at the International Pacific Research Center (IPRC), University of Hawaii at Manoa. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Postdoc #1: The position is part of an NSF funded project aimed at determining the impact of climate change on upper ocean physics and biogeochemistry. The successful candidate will join a team from UH, NCAR and Caltech. The focus is on how the response of the ocean is affected by the presence of mesoscale and submesocale dynamics. The primary tools will be an eddy-resolving global ocean model with embedded biogeochemistry and a regional model to dynamically downscale to the submesoscale. The postdoc will be based in Hawaii but will spend an extended time at NCAR.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Postdoc #2: The position is part of a NOAA funded project aimed at determining the controls on upper ocean processes that impact intraseasonal variability in the Maritime Continent region. The project is in collaboration with colleagues at JAMSTEC, Japan and will contribute to the international research campaign the Years of the Maritime Continent (YMC). Particular focus will be paid to the role of freshwater forcing. The use of high resolution numerical models will be combined with the analysis of observations. There will be an opportunity to participate in a related research cruise.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Applicants should have a recent PhD or be close to completion. Experience in designing, running and analyzing numerical experiments is a distinct advantage. Initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal for a further two years based on satisfactory performance and continued funding.
