<div class=""><b class="">Post-doctoral Position in Organic Geochemistry</b><br class="">
<br class="">
The Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences (VIMS) at the College of William and Mary is seeking a Postdoctoral Investigator in Organic Geochemistry to work with Dr. Elizabeth Canuel. The Postdoctoral Investigator will join ongoing research projects studying
the composition of organic matter in coastal habitats. Specifically, the Postdoctoral Research Associate position will support ongoing and new research studying the composition of organic matter in coastal habitats including marshes and estuaries.<br class="">
<br class="">
Potential research topics include characterizing the signatures of dissolved and particulate organic matter at the marsh-estuary interface, studying biotic and abiotic processes influencing organic matter in sediments, evaluating interactions between organic
matter composition and microbial processes, and measuring stable and radiocarbon isotopic signatures of organic matter.<br class="">

Position responsibilities include interacting with and supervising graduate and undergraduate students, working closely with collaborators on ongoing projects, and developing new independent research consistent with the goals of the organic geochemistry group.<br class="">
<br class="">
The successful applicant will have experience with a broad range of organic geochemical methods (biomarker and isotopic tracers) to study the sources and fate of organic matter, knowledge of wetland and estuarine systems, and also develop independent research related
to the sources and fate of organic matter of coastal systems. A PhD in marine and/or environmental science or related field (e.g., analytical chemistry), a broad knowledge of organic matter characterization methods, strong quantitative skills, and a proven
research background are required. Experience with R statistical methods and project management is preferred but not required. The position will be located at VIMS, but involve collaboration with investigators at other locations. Salary will be commensurate
with experience, and multiple years of funding are possible.<br class="">
