<p>The research group is led by Prof. Eric Maloney, a
Professor of Atmospheric Science within the Department
of Atmospheric Science, at Colorado State University.
The research group includes graduates students,
postdoctoral fellows, and research scientists largely
involved in studies of tropical meteorology and
tropical-extratropical interaction. All of the research
being conducted by the Maloney research team takes place
at CSU’s Foothills campus in Fort Collins, Colorado.</p>

<p>The Maloney research team has funding for a
postdoctoral research scientist (“postdoc”) to develop
innovative process-oriented diagnostics for climate and
weather forecasting models with an emphasis on the
tropics. The position will involve:<br>
• Using large-scale atmospheric analyses, satellite
observations, and in-situ observations to diagnose the
dynamics of tropical intraseasonal oscillations.<br>
• Applying these diagnostics to state-of-the-art climate
models developed by<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span
class="caps">NCAR</span><span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>and<span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span
class="caps">GFDL</span>.<span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br>
• Implementing these diagnostics in a generalized
software framework that allows broad dissemination of
diagnostics across multiple modeling centers, using the
applied programming interface developed by the<span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span
class="caps">NOAA</span><span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span
class="caps">MAPP</span><span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Model
