Phillips lab at Indiana University is seeking a
highly-motivated individual to
join our team as a Research Associate. Research in the
Phillips lab focuses on
quantifying how plant-microbe interactions influence
biogeochemical cycling and
ecosystem processes in forests (<i>please
visit: <a href="http://phillipslab.bio.indiana.edu/" target="_blank">phillipslab.bio.indiana.edu</a></i>).
The successful applicant will be responsible for leading and
conducting fieldwork
from April to October (at multiple forest sites across the
eastern and
Midwestern US), and coordinating lab work during the
non-growing season. Field
duties include collecting soil and plant tissue samples,
deploying ingrowth
cores, capturing minirhizotron images, maintaining field
plots, setting and re-measuring
dendrometer bands, downloading data from data loggers, and
supervising field
campaigns. Lab duties include: maintaining a clean and safe
work environment, ordering
supplies, overseeing lab finances, supervising lab personnel,
training and mentoring
undergraduate researchers and technicians, operating and
maintaining scientific
instruments, analyzing and organizing data, and helping to
write and edit manuscripts.

organization/analysis, and a willingness to travel to remote
field sites to conduct
physically-strenuous field work, often under adverse
conditions. An ability to
