Two post-doctoral research scholar positions are available in the Department of Land, Air, and Water Resources at the University of California, Davis, to work on the development of yield prediction models and remote sensing strategies for
almond orchards. Research areas include, but are not limited to, 1) using various airborne and satellite resources to estimate monitor orchard characteristics relevant to yield, such as canopy and flowering characteristics, 2) building statistical yield prediction
models by integrating yield data, remote sensing metrics, weather and other environmental layers, and 3) using remote sensing to estimate agricultural water use.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline. Successful candidates must have experience in satellite remote sensing algorithm development and applications in agriculture or natural ecosystems. Ideally the candidates
would have strong programming and GIS skills, such as R, Matlab, Python, and QGIS/ArcGIS, and strong data analytic skills, e.g., machine learning approaches. Knowledge of agriculture is beneficial but not essential. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Appointments will be for an initial period of one year with the likelihood of extension for additional years.

Questions about the position and applications should be sent to Dr. Yufang Jin (yujin@ucdavis.edu). Formal applications should include a cover letter describing your research experience and interests,
a curriculum vita, PDF copies of selected publications, and the names of three references.
