PhD position in snowfall remote sensing at Michigan Tech<br>
***************************************************************************<br>
<br>
Applications are invited for a NASA-funded PhD position at Michigan
Technological University (MTU).<span> </span>The
overall goal of the project is to develop global snowfall datasets from NASA
sensors (e.g., GPM, A-Train).<span> </span>Spaceborne
remote sensing datasets will also be evaluated and improved using ground-based
remote sensing and in situ snow microphysical observations. <br>
<br>
We are interested in candidates with strong backgrounds in the atmospheric
sciences.<span> </span>Computer programming skills
and experience with satellite and/or ground-based remote sensing data
processing are assets.<span> </span>Interested
candidates should send their CV and a brief statement of interest to Mark Kulie
(<a href="mailto:mkulie@mtu.edu">mkulie@mtu.edu</a>).<span> </span><br>

Michigan Tech is located in Houghton, MI, USA on the southern shore of Lake
Superior.<span> </span>The university has a total
student population of about 7000. The location is a superb outdoor environment
far from cities, on the largest and most pristine of the Great Lakes, with
excellent skiing, cycling, kayaking and wilderness activities. Cost of living
is low, and independent environmentalism is a way of life. </span></p>
