PhD graduate student assistantships in Ecosystem Ecology and Terrestrial Ec=<br>
osystem Modeling are available in the department of Ecology, Evolution, and=<br>
Organismal Biology at Iowa State University. We invite highly motivated gr=<br>
aduate students with interest in investigating cutting-edge ecological ques=<br>
tions in a coupled human and natural system. Our research integrates ground=<br>
/satellite observations into process-based ecosystem modeling framework to =<br>
examine biogeochemical and hydrological cycles, land-atmosphere exchange of=<br>
greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4 and N2O), and land-coastal linkage at multiple =<br>
scales from watershed, regional, continental to global in the context of mu=<br>
ltifactor global change (e.g., climate change, air pollution, land use and =<br>
management, etc.). The student will work on one or two of these research ar=<br>
eas by developing large-scale dataset, improving and calibrating terrestria=<br>
l ecosystem/Land surface models, and analyzing simulation results. There ar=<br>
e plenty of opportunities to work with a group of ecologists with different=<br>
expertise, and socioeconomists.<br>

We expect that these new graduate students will join the lab in Fall 2017. =<br>
The applicants should possess a degree in ecology/biology, hydrology, meteo=<br>
rology, geography, earth system science, forestry, agronomy, or soil scienc=<br>
e. Quantitative skills and experience in terrestrial ecosystem/land surface=<br>
modeling, remote sensing, geospatial and/or statistical analysis are prefe=<br>
