Land-Atmosphere Earth System Modeling at
Cornell University (Ithaca, NY)

The postdoctoral fellowship focuses on
fundamental questions regarding the interaction between the
biogeochemistry of the nitrogen cycle and impacts on climate and
air-quality. It addresses how the nitrogen cycle will change in
the future as the climate changes and emissions change. The
successful candidate will work on a collaborative,
interdisciplinary project relevant for predicting human impacts on
biogeochemistry and climate. The research involves simulating
various aspects of the nitrogen cycle and its climate impacts
within an Earth System model. The project is collaborative between
the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Department, the Department of
Biological and Environmental Engineering and the Crop and Soil
Sciences Department at Cornell University with strong
collaborative connections to the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
department. The successful applicant will demonstrate experience
with numerical modeling and will have a record of publications in
peer-reviewed literature. The successful applicant will hold a
Ph.D. in atmospheric science, engineering, environmental biology,
ecology or a related field. Experience with large model
simulations is highly desirable, as well as familiarity with the
analysis of large data sets. Applicants should send an email
directly to pgh25@cornell.edu.
Applications will be processed until position is filled. Cornell
University is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action
Employer and we strongly encourage applications from women and
minorities.
