The successful candidates will join a transdisciplinary research team that analyzes climate driven vulnerabilities, risks, and potential adaptation strategies in areas such as water supply, flood control, forestry, and agriculture. The ideal candidates will have a strong quantitative background (e.g., Earth sciences, applied mathematics, statistics, operations research, or physics). Prior exposure to areas such as integrated assessment modeling, risk analysis, or decision analysis would be an advantage, but is not required. Successful candidates must be interested in and able to collaborate on transdisciplinary research involving decision analysists, Earth scientists, economists, engineers, statisticians, and philosophers. Postdoctoral scholars will have considerable freedom to collaboratively design the research in the areas outlined above with a mentor network spanning the relevant academic disciplines. Information about ongoing projects as well as relevant publications can be found at http://www3.geosc.psu.edu/~kzk10/. The positions are part of a larger-scale hiring initiative (see http://scrimhub.org/opportunities/employment/). Both positions are available immediately and will remain open until filled. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, with excellent possibility of renewal for one or more additional years. Please upload cover letter, CV, statement of research interests, copies of two relevant manuscripts, and contact information for three professional references.
