The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at McGill
University is seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position to strengthen its leadership in
remote sensing. The successful applicant will be expected to
develop an active research program, supervise graduate students,
and teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. A Ph.
D. in atmospheric sciences, or a closely related field is
required.

It is expected that the successful candidate will pursue
research in remote sensing with a strong modelling and/or
observational component. The range of possible research areas is
broad and includes, but is not limited to: 1) the development of
retrieval methods for studies of the structure and microphysics
of clouds and precipitation, 2) the use of remote sensing data
for the characterization and understanding of radiative and
dynamical processes, trace gas emissions, cloud life cycles, and
their impacts on climate variability, and 3) the development and
validation of remote sensing instruments. The Department of
Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences has strong ties with the
Departments of Mathematics and Statistics, Chemistry, and with
the Earth System Science Program. Access to high performance
computing is available through Compute Canada.
