Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (EEES) at Clemson
University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the
Assistant Professor level commencing with the fall 2017 semester.
The successful candidate will have earned a PhD in Geosciences,
Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The
specific area of research specialization is open, but an
individual is sought with outstanding potential and scholarly
interests in cutting edge topics that will complement the existing
strengths of the Hydrogeology and Geology programs within the EEES
department. Examples of desired specialty areas include, but are
not limited to, natural hazards, climate change, coastal geologic
systems, remote sensing, geoinformatics, and engineering geology.
Preference will be given to candidates who take a quantitative
approach to research. The successful candidate is expected to
teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Current
teaching needs at the undergraduate level include structural
geology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, and surficial geology;
the successful candidate will be expected to teach one or more of
these undergraduate courses in the Geology degree program.
Development of new courses at the undergraduate or graduate level
will be encouraged. The candidate will be expected to advise MS
and PhD students in the EEES Department, and to develop a
high-quality, funded research program. Opportunities exist for
collaboration within the uniquely interdisciplinary environment of
the EEES department, as well as with colleagues in other
departments at Clemson University. Information about the EEES
department is available at
