The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) is seek=<br>
ing a highly motivated doctoral or master=E2=80=99s student interested in i=<br>
nterdisciplinary research in agro-ecosystems. This new project focuses on w=<br>
ater management and greenhouse gas fluxes at a farm on the Delmarva Peninsu=<br>
la. Our team of researchers (<a href="http://research.al.umces.edu/%7Edavidson/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">http://research.al.umces.edu/<wbr>~davidson/</a> and ht=<br>
tp://<a href="http://www.hpl.umces.edu/gis_group/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">www.hpl.umces.edu/gis_<wbr>group/</a>) will be studying the impact of water tab=<br>
le management through drainage on greenhouse gas fluxes (methane, nitrous o=<br>
xide and carbon dioxide), on nitrate and phosphate leaching, and on socio-e=<br>
conomic returns for farmers and society. We seek a student who will focus m=<br>
ostly on micrometeorological measurements of nitrous oxide and methane flux=<br>
es and who will contribute to the integrated team effort of this project. T=<br>
he ideal candidate must have experience with eddy covariance or gradient fl=<br>
ux measurements. Knowledge and experience in micrometeorology, soil biogeoc=<br>
hemistry, hydrology, and programming using R are highly d=<br>
esirable. A master's or bachelor's degree in a related fiel<br>
d of the natural sciences (e.g. Environmental Science, Agronomy, Meteorolog=<br>
y, Geography) is preferred.<br>
