Peripherals include EA, GasBench, TCEA, and GCC. Other supporting equipment/instruments include: GC-FID-MS, Accelerated Solvent Extractor, New Wave MicroMill, IsoMet saw, Labconco freeze drier, Cryomill, TGA/DSC analyzer, and an assortment of microbalances. (<a href="https://www.as.uky.edu/research-facilities" class="">https://www.as.uky.edu/research-facilities</a>) <o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Principle Investigator’s (PI) Erhardt, Kim, and Moecher oversee the facility. PI Erhardt’s existing research interests are in paleoceanography and low temperature geochemistry focusing on using carbonates to reconstruct ancient seawater chemistry. PI Kim’s existing research interests are in paleoecology and environmental reconstruction based on isotopic analysis of bioapatite, carbonates, and leaf waxes. <o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">The primary responsibilities of this position include: maintaining, operating, and repairing instruments, which includes three isotope ratio mass spectrometers, a full suite of peripherals and other supporting equipment and instruments; working with a diverse client base of students, faculty, staff, and external users; training students on sample preparation and analysis; sample management, analysis, and invoicing; data reduction and quality control; maintaining laboratory inventory; and ensuring the lab complies with all health and safety regulations. The lab manager will interact with all users of the facility, including faculty, staff, and students, and advise on analytical aspects of their studies. The possibility exists for the successful candidate to take on independent research and assist in the development of new techniques. <o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">The minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree and one year of fulltime, related experience.
