<div class="">The Department of Atmospheric Sciences in the Rosenstiel School of<br class="">
Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Miami is seeking<br class="">
candidates for a full time, 9-month Lecturer position. The incumbent<br class="">
will teach undergraduate courses, lead weather discussions, oversee<br class="">
student activities, support data acquisition and local web pages,<br class="">
and participate in the recruitment of undergraduates. The Department<br class="">
of Atmospheric Sciences offers a B.S. in Meteorology with courses that<br class="">
closely follow American Meteorological Society guidelines. Close proximity<br class="">
to the National Hurricane Center, NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and<br class="">
Meteorological Laboratory and its Hurricane Research Division, and<br class="">
links with local television stations provide opportunities for expanded<br class="">
educational interactions with these agencies.<br class="">
<br class="">
Candidates should have a broad knowledge of the science of weather<br class="">
forecasting, including data acquisition, computer forecast models, local<br class="">
effects, and severe weather. Familiarity with tropical meteorology and<br class="">
hurricane forecasting is also desired.<br class="">
<br class="">
This position nominally requires a Ph.D. degree in meteorology,<br class="">
atmospheric sciences, or a closely related discipline, along with<br class="">
experience teaching undergraduate courses in meteorology. Applicants<br class="">
with an M.S. degree and exceptional experience will also be considered.<br class="">
