The Arctic Data Center is hiring<br>
<br>
The NSF Arctic Data Center is a newly funded repository providing the =<br>
data storage, curation, and discovery features needed to support the =<br>
Arctic research community. Launched in March 2016 the Arctic Data =<br>
Center is a partnership between NCEAS at UC Santa Barbara, DataONE, and =<br>
NOAA=E2=80=99s NCEI. In addition to supporting data preservation and =<br>
curation services, the Arctic Data Center will develop an extensive data =<br>
management and open science training program for the Arctic community, =<br>
targeting early career and underrepresented groups.<br>

The Arctic Data Center currently has two positions open, both of which =<br>
will close on <span tabindex="0" class=""><span class="">July 15th 2016</span></span>. These positions will be based at NCEAS, =<br>
part of UC Santa Barbara.<br>
<br>
Training and Outreach Coordinator<br>
Interested in building an open science training program for the Arctic? =<br>
The Arctic Data Center at NCEAS is looking for the right person to lead =<br>
our training activities, which center around techniques and approaches =<br>
towards open science and data-driven synthesis, including topical foci =<br>
on research computing, communication, collaboration, and other aspects =<br>
of data science that support scientific synthesis. The coordinator will =<br>
conduct multiple workshop-oriented training events each year along with =<br>
other staff from the Arctic Data Center, NCEAS, and the LTER Network =<br>
Communications Office (NCO). Curricular materials will be open and =<br>
consistent with NCEAS=E2=80=99 Open Science for Synthesis training =<br>
program.=20<br>

Projects Data Coordinator<br>
The Projects Data Coordinator manages ecologically and environmentally =<br>
relevant data from the Arctic Data Center and other funded projects at =<br>
the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS). The =<br>
coordinator contacts data providers and consults the literature to =<br>
gather metadata to make the data understandable and useful for synthesis =<br>
activities. The coordinator also performs a wide variety of analysis and =<br>
modeling activities to assess and remedy data quality issues, as well as =<br>
characterize and visualize data for synthesis. The coordinator will work =<br>
with other team members and with scientists from targeted projects to =<br>
gather data and metadata, and will mentor graduate student fellows who =<br>
contribute to the data management goals of the Center. We also =<br>
anticipate a role in conducting data science training activities serving =<br>
the Arctic research and other NCEAS communities.=20<br>
