full time Researcher Project
Coordinator is available in soil and aquatic biogeochemistry
with the Burgin
and Loecke Labs at the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS).
The
researcher will be responsible for coordinating research
projects that study
greenhouse gas production, global warming potential, and
carbon storage of
created wetlands in agricultural landscapes by providing
specialized, skilled
lab and field services and supervise temporary workers and/or
student workers. The position located in Dayton, OH and may
require travel to Lawrence, KS, 1-4 times per year for up to
one week at a time.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Duties
and percent-time devoted to each:</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">40%
- Independently manage research projects
and maintain research facilities. Manage research lab,
including staffing,
supervising, maintaining equipment and records, ensuring
protocols, compliance
and safety.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">40%
- Collect, analyze and process lab and
field samples, data entry and management, providing weekly
update reports to
supervisor. Provide training as needed.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">20%
- Provide assistance to others. Full
supervision of temporary/on call and student workers.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Required
Qualifications:</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Bachelor’s
degree in natural resource
sciences or related field, plus three years’ related field and
laboratory
experience required. Technical skills and working knowledge in
relevant
science, including course work in water and soil science
required. Experience
with project management and/or supervisory experience and
demonstrated ability
to teach others required.
Prioritization, organizational, communication and facilitation
skills;
and recordkeeping and computer skills, such as basic data
entry, QA/QC and
graphing essential. Valid driver’s license required.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Preferred
Qualifications:</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Master’s
degree natural resource sciences or
related field.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">2
years project management and/or supervisory
experience.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Experience
with analytical instrumentation,
including gas chromatography and sensor networks. Knowledge of
compliance and
safety regulations necessary. Familiarity with environmental
sensors, solar
panels and cellular communication modems; and familiarity with
soil, plant, and
microbial assay techniques.</span></p>
