                  <h2>Associate Research Professor - Climatology</h2>

                  <p>The Division of Atmospheric Sciences (DAS) of the
                    Desert Research Institute (DRI) is seeking an
                    Associate Research Professor in the area of
                    aerosol/climate interactions. The successful
                    candidate is expected to build a research program
                    studying aerosol radiative forcing and response of
                    the climate system. They will integrate observations
                    and modeling to explore past and present forcing of
                    the climate system due to aerosols and advance
                    research on modeling impacts of future projections
                    of aerosol emissions. The candidate will have
                    demonstrated experience working with multiple
                    observational datasets to constrain aerosol forcing
                    of climate. The candidate will also have
                    demonstrated experience performing climate
                    simulations with global climate models. DRI's
                    research programs are externally funded with grants
                    and contracts. The successful candidate will have a
                    demonstrated capability to attract external funding
                    to support their research.</p>
                  <p>DRI's faculty members are untenured,
                    entrepreneurial and responsible for their own
                    salaries from external grants and contracts. This
                    blend of academic rigor and private-sector
                    pragmatism has earned DRI a reputation for
                    delivering rapid, high-quality environmental science
                    in a businesslike fashion. The successful candidate
                    will be encouraged to collaborate with DRI's
                    research laboratories, including the Environmental
                    Analysis Facility, Organic Analytical Laboratory,
                    Storm Peak Laboratory, Carter Family Optics and
                    Acoustics Laboratory, and the Applied Innovation
                    Center for Advanced Analytics. The successful
                    candidate will also have the opportunity to join the
                    graduate faculty of the University of Nevada, Reno
                    (UNR) Interdisciplinary Program in Atmospheric
                    Sciences, which offers graduate degrees in
                    atmospheric sciences. The program is jointly
                    administered by UNR and DRI, offering DAS faculty
                    the opportunity to teach courses and advise graduate
                    students.</p>
                  <p><b>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</b></p>
                  <ul>
                    <li>Ph.D. in atmospheric science, meteorology, or a
                      related discipline from an accredited institution.</li>
                    <li>10-years minimum post-graduate experience in
                      atmospheric science research.</li>
                    <li>Demonstrated expertise in analysis of global
                      datasets of aerosols and climate.</li>
                    <li>Demonstrated expertise in designing and
                      executing climate model experiments.</li>
                    <li>Demonstrated track record of scientific
                      publication in atmospheric science and/or climate
                      journals.</li>
                    <li>Demonstrated track record of external funding
                      through research grants and contracts.</li>
                    <li>Demonstrated ability to work independently and
                      as lead of a scientific team to fulfill project
                      goals and meet project deadlines.</li>
                    <li>Excellent written and spoken English-language
                      communicator.</li>
                    <li>Excellent ability to interact professionally and
                      work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary
                      environment.</li>
                    <li>Ability to work independently and as lead of a
                      scientific team.</li>
                  </ul>
