position is funded by the Dept. of Energy Next Generation
Ecosystem Experiment in the Tropics (NGEE-T) project
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://esd.lbl.gov/ngee-tropics/">http://esd.lbl.gov/ngee-tropics/</a>), and will focus on
constraining simulation models of vegetation dynamics in
tropical forest ecosystems. The project will have two
principle scientific foci. 1) Fire-vegetation interactions and
the testing and refinement of a coupled model of ecosystem
demography (ED) and fire spread and intensity, in the context
of tropical fire manipulation experiments and 2) Analyzing the
predictions of community composition of new plant
hydraulics–enabled NGEE-T demography model at targeted field
stations in Panama and Brazil.</p>

papers. The NGEE-T model is developed as a collaborative tool
to be used across land surface modeling schemes, including the
Community Land Model (CLM). This position will have an active
role in the CLM community and the model development team
within the Terrestrial Sciences Section at NCAR.</p>
