                                        <p><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Cambria">Leech Lake Tribal College, Cass Lake, Minnesota,
seeks an instructor in the general area of Earth
system science. This is a new position and the
successful candidate will be teaching new courses
and developing a new program leading to an associate of science degree in Earth system science.
In addition, the instructor will be working with
faculty at the University of Minnesota Duluth to
develop an integrated program of information,
education, and recruitment of American Indian
students that is built around a community-inspired and community-led natural history STEM
club</span><span style="font-family:Cambria;font-size:11pt">. </span></p><p><span style="font-family:Cambria;font-size:11pt">The program and the club
will emphasize tutoring, internships, engagement, student support,
lectures, and a workshop series, which includes Native speakers from
the greater community and academia, and will actively participate in the development and maintenance of a long-term
environmental monitoring network as the focus of the connection
between culture and tradition and natural resources. The program of
environmental monitoring will include air, streams, lakes, wetlands,
soil, forests, plants, and wildlife. The instructor will supervise students and interested community members in data collection.</span></p></div></div>

                                        <p><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Cambria">The instructor in this position will be working with University of
Minnesota Duluth faculty on the development and implementation of bridge programs to ease the transition of Tribal college student
moving into STEM disciplines at 4-year colleges and on the develop-
ment of a 2+2 program offered at the Tribal college, leading to a BS in
Tribal Resource Stewardship or Environmental Science.
