(WMU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Hydrogeology
beginning July 1, 2016. The position will be filled at the Assistant/Associate Professor
level. Candidates must have earned their Ph.D. in the geosciences, or a closely
related field, from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. The
successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of high-quality research and
excellence in teaching, particularly in hydrogeology. A principal
responsibility of the position will be to build upon WMU’s new hydrogeology
certificate program and the nation’s oldest hydrogeology field course, which is
poised to grow substantially. The hydrogeology field course currently consists
of a six-week, summer session serving 30 students. Specific responsibilities of
the new faculty member will include: (i) growing the hydrogeology field course
to include multiple sessions, (ii) curriculum development and teaching field-based,
face-to-face, and online courses within the hydrogeology program, (ii)
strengthening existing relationships with universities, industry partners, and
governmental entities, (iii) enhancing financial support for the field course,
