<p style="line-height: 18.12px;">Applications are invited
for a creative postdoctoral scientist, preferably with
experience in field-instrumentation, image or remote
sensing analysis, and/or modeling, to join an
interdisciplinary collaboration in Brazil (jointly
funded by U.S.<span class="caps">DOE</span>, and the
Brazilian Sao Paulo State and Amazonas State Science
foundations). The science goal is to use novel “local
remote sensing” methods with novel camera systems to
discover how environmental and ecological mechanisms
jointly regulate the dynamics of photosynthesis in
tropical forest canopies, from individual tree crown to
landscape scales.</p>

as part of a team of Brazilian and U.S. collaborators,
and will focus on installation, analysis and
interpretation of advanced tower-based camera systems
(we will have 3 vegetation camera systems —
hyperspectral, thermal, and 4-band<span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span
class="caps">RGB</span>-<span class="caps">NIR</span><span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>— at two Amazon
forest sites, along with hemispherical full-sky images
of the incoming radiation field). The research will
involve collaborating with a partner post-doc in Brazil
(at<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span
class="caps">INPE</span>, the Brazilian space agency)
to apply advanced image analysis techniques for
integration with associated in situ and remote sensing
data (including leaf-scale measurements, eddy fluxes,
and airborne LiDAR surveys and satellite observations).</p>
