As Research Oceanographer, specializing in Oceanographic
Studies, with expertise in coupled global and regional
physical-biogeochemical modeling and performing the
assimilation of satellite ocean color products into these
models. A key focus of the work is to lead and conduct studies
of hypothesis-driven research and will extend model
capabilities through assimilation of satellite-derived ocean
color products beyond the traditional chlorophyll retrievals.
The work involves leading, planning, and developing
sensitivity analyses designed to drive improvements in the
ocean color products and to facilitate the development of new
products. This is a research position, research includes, but
is not limited to: determining the nature, magnitude, and
interrelationships of physical, chemical, biological, and
other comparable ocean phenomena and processes; to create or
develop empirical, theoretical, or experimental means of
investigating such phenomena and processes. You will extend
knowledge to global and regional biogeochemical processes; you
will contribute inventions, new instrumentation, measurement
techniques and algorithms that are of material significance in
deriving and verifying remote sensing calibration and
validity; you will originate and establish unique methods and
applications that provide innovative solutions to complex
oceanographic scientific issues. You will lead or participate
in ensuring the effective performance of research
investigations and assignments. Research results will be
published in technical reports, journal articles, or
requirements documents and presented at scientific conferences
and seminars. Responsibilities also include developing and
evaluating research proposals and serving as an authoritative
source of consultation for other scientists and program
specialists.</p>
