WHOI scientific staff members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program. Members of the WHOI’s Scientific Staff are expected to provide for their salaries from grants and contracts, but the Institution provides salary support when no other funding is available, as well as significant internal funding for developing innovative research.
