<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2"><b><span style="line-height:107%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif" lang="EN">Geosciences Research Position (UABC, México) </span></b></font></p><font size="2">
</font><p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2"><span style="line-height:107%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif" lang="EN">The Oceanography Research
Institute at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) in Ensenada,
Baja California, Mexico invites applications for a position of full-time
researcher in the field of paleoceanography and/or paleoclimatology. The
successful candidate will join a research group in the Environmental
Geosciences department that is involved in a wide range of interrelated issues
on the environmental history of the Earth, from the Pleistocene to the
Anthropocene, global climate change, the effects of environmental change on
coral reefs, marine biogeochemistry, etc. We seek a highly motivated, proactive
candidate with excellent interpersonal skills, qualified to develop into one of
the two broad research themes: (1) Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, or (2)
Global Change in Marine and Coastal Ecosystems. The successful candidate should
be capable of conducting research independently, and to successfully fund his scientific
proposals from external sources (government and private agencies), and to carry
out field work and data analysis leading to a better understanding of the climate
history during Holocene-Anthropocene of Mexico.<br>
Candidates should have a PhD in Earth Sciences, or a related discipline, and at
least one year of postdoctoral experience and/or professional research in the
disciplines described above. He must also demonstrate experience in the use of
analytical instrumentation in his area of expertise and in the management of
paleoclimatic data bases.<br>
Applicants must submit a personal statement describing his experience in
research and a detailed work plan within the academic group in Environmental
Geosciences of UABC; his resumé (CV) and relevant publications; and the names
and addresses of three references. In addition, a statement describing his willingness
to teach a course on climate change and paleoclimatology; and his opinion on
the importance of paleoclimate research to address problems related to the
society.</span></font></p><font size="2">
