The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Manitoba<br>
invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant<br>
Professor beginning as early as July 1, 2016 in the general area of<br>
sedimentology with expertise in petroleum geoscience. We especially<br>
welcome applications from candidates with research interests in<br>
unconventional oil and gas resources, and petroleum industry experience.<br>
Particular attention will be given to candidates that complement and<br>
contribute to on-going research and teaching activities in the Department.<br>
Qualified applicants must have a proven record of excellence in research<br>
and the potential for excellence in teaching. The successful applicant<br>
will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in<br>
sedimentary, petroleum and field geology, and establish an internationally<br>
recognized, externally funded research program.<br>

The Department of Geological Sciences is home to 12 tenured and<br>
tenure-track faculty members in the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of<br>
Environment, Earth, and Resources, and offers a range of undergraduate and<br>
graduate programs in Geology and Geophysics. It has a well-established<br>
national and international research reputation with strengths in<br>
mineralogy, geochemistry, sedimentary geology, paleontology, geophysics,<br>
and environmental geosciences. The department has over $10 million of<br>
equipment housed in major, multi-user laboratories. To learn more about<br>
