The Department of Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga<br>
(UTM) invites applications for a tenure-stream<br>
appointment in Ecosystem Ecology at the rank of Assistant Professor.<br>
The position start date is July 1, 2016.<br>
<br>
We are searching for an outstanding candidate whose research focuses<br>
on ecosystem ecology, with strong links to<br>
organismal (particularly, animal) biology. Areas of interest include,<br>
but are not limited to, aquatic ecology, urban<br>
ecology, arctic ecology, and the ecology of other extreme or rapidly<br>
changing environments. The UTM and its<br>
affiliated institutions offer a stimulating and supportive<br>
environment with a variety of facilities and a highly<br>
interactive community of researchers. We seek applications from<br>
individuals whose research program would<br>
complement existing departmental research strengths, which include<br>
the study of freshwater ecology, predator -<br>
prey interactions, landscape ecology, ecological interactions between<br>
plants and enemies, and plant ecosystems<br>
ecology. Excellent opportunities exist for collaboration within the<br>
Department of Biology, with other departments at<br>
UTM (e.g., Geography and Mathematical and Computational Sciences), as<br>
well as with faculty at the St. George<br>
and Scarborough campuses of the University of Toronto.<br>

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biology or related field (e.g.,<br>
Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, Geology, etc.), post-<br>
doctoral experience, an outstanding academic record, demonstrated<br>
research excellence, ability to recruit and<br>
supervise graduate students, and excellence in teaching. Evidence of<br>
excellence in research will be demonstrated<br>
by publications in top ranked and field relevant academic journals,<br>
presentations at significant conferences, awards<br>
and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees. The successful<br>
candidate will be expected to contribute to<br>
the high quality teaching in our programs. Evidence of excellence in<br>
teaching will be demonstrated through<br>
teaching accomplishments, letters of reference and the teaching<br>
dossier submitted as part of the application. Salary<br>
will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The<br>
appointee will be located in the Department of<br>

Mississauga, and will also be a member of the tri-<br>
campus graduate Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology<br>
