The University of Oregon Environmental Studies Program is seeking an=20<br>
exceptional scholar in environmental science with a strong research=20<br>
program and a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate=20=<br>
<br>
and graduate level for a full time (1.0 FTE) position as a tenure-track=20=<br>
<br>
assistant professor with a 9 month appointment. Desired start date: Fall=20=<br>
<br>
2016.<br>
=20<br>
Research and teaching must be interdisciplinary and connect to applied=20=<br>
<br>
environmental problems. We are especially interested in scientists whose=20=<br>
<br>
research addresses freshwater aquatic or riparian ecosystems, soil=20<br>
ecosystems and biogeochemistry, or restoration ecology, although we will=20=<br>
<br>
consider all candidates with strong research records in any area of=20<br>
environmental science. Applicants must show an enthusiastic desire to be=20=<br>
<br>
involved in a program that encompasses humanities, social science,=20<br>
natural science, and several professional programs. Candidates must=20<br>
demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, including the=20<br>
ability to interact constructively with colleagues and students from=20<br>
diverse backgrounds. The minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in an=20=<br>
<br>
appropriate field by the time of the start date and a strong research=20<br>
record in environmental science.=20=20=20<br>

The position will be split between the Environmental Studies Program=20<br>
(0.6 of the FTE), which will be the tenure home, and an appropriate=20<br>
academic department (0.4 of the FTE) with potential ones including, but=20=<br>
<br>
not limited to, Biology, Geography, and Geological Sciences. Duties=20<br>
will include:<br>
1) developing an academically oriented, externally funded research=20<br>
program; 2) teaching undergraduate interdisciplinary courses in the=20<br>
Environmental Studies Program and advanced courses in areas of=20<br>
specialization, 3) supervising masters and doctoral students, and 4)=20<br>
performing services primarily within the Environmental Studies Program.=20=<br>
