of the Earth’s surface environment through time. The successful candidate will pursue independent research on topics that may include fluid-rock interactions in lithosphere; chemical weathering (erosion) and their influence on evolution of the continental
crust; the redox evolution of Earth’s ocean and atmosphere; the changing distributions of redox sensitive transition elements and their consequences to microbial evolution; and feedbacks between the evolution of Earth’s surface and the rise of the terrestrial
