<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"> The
Biogeochemistry and Geobiology group at Washington University in St. Louis
invites applications for a postdoctoral scientist position in the area of the
biogeochemistry of sulfate reducing bacteria.
This position will have two primary foci. This first will investigate
the effects of sulfate transporters on the magnitude of sulfur isotope
fractionation during sulfate reduction; the second will explore the oxygen
isotope systematics of enzymes within the sulfate reduction pathway. Both
projects involve collaborations will other research groups at Washington
University and outside institutions. Opportunities exist for the postdoctoral
scientist to also participate in other existing and future projects. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"> The
ideal candidate will have experience with cultivation of anaerobic
microorganisms, as well as experience with common microbiological laboratory
techniques such as PCR and molecular cloning. Experience with enzymology or
with stable isotope analysis is desirable. The initial appointment will be for
one year with a second year contingent on satisfactory performance. Further
extension may be possible if additional funding becomes available.<o:p></o:p></p>
