<p>Purpose and Main Duties</p>
<p>The Department of Geography, Environment and Development Studies
(GEDS) at Birkbeck is looking to appoint to three posts in this dynamic
department.</p>
<p>Lecturer A/B in GIS and Big Data Analytics<br>
Lecturer A in Social or Economic Geography<br>
Lecturer A in Physical/ Environmental Geography</p>
<p>You will join one of the department’s research clusters, Social and
Spatial Inequalities or Environment and Sustainability and contribute to
undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and academic administrative
roles. </p>
<p>The Lecturer A in Social or Economic Geography will be able to
supervise a broad range of social science dissertations. The Lecturer A
in Physical/ Environmental Geography will be able to teach environmental
processes and may have a specific research interest in sustainability.
The Lecturer A/B in GIS and Big Data Analytics will be involved in
researching with big data as well as being able to teach big data
analysis using GIS.</p>

<p>Further Information</p>
<p>Salary: Grade 7 (Lecturer A) which is £35,343 rising to £40,460
pro-rata per annum inclusive of £3,066 London Allowance pro-rata per
annum or Grade 8 (Lecturer B) which is £41,577 rising to £49,020
pro-rata per annum inclusive of £3,066 London Allowance pro-rata per
annum.</p>
<p>Lecturer A/B in GIS and Big Data Analytics is full time, 35 hours per
week (1.0 FTE) and open ended. Lecturer A in Social or Economic
Geography is part-time, 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE) and fixed term for
18 months. Lecturer A in Physical / Environmental Geography is full
time, 35 hours per week (1.0 FTE) and fixed term for 10 months. The
salaries quoted above are inclusive of London allowance and pro-rata for
the part-time post. The initial salary will be dependent on the level
of appointment and skills and experience of the successful applicant.
The appointment is subject to a probationary period of up to three
