*Work description *The holder of the position will carry out research in<br>
the area of ecology or biogeochemistry of subarctic/arctic ecosystems.<br>
Research directed towards terrestrial and/or freshwater (streams, lakes)<br>
systems is welcome. It is valuable if the planned research can be linked to<br>
on-going research at CIRC. We are particularly interested in candidates who<br>
address climate impacts on ecological and biogeochemical patterns and<br>
processes at whole-ecosystem scale, across terrestrial and aquatic<br>
ecosystems, or at catchment or higher levels. We welcome research<br>
approaches combining different types of field studies, e.g. using natural<br>
gradients or experimental manipulations, with modeling and up-scaling<br>
techniques.<br>

*Admission requirements *The successful candidate for the assistant<br>
professorship should hold a doctoral degree (or equivalent), preferably<br>
obtained less than seven years prior to the application deadline.<br>
Candidates are expected to have an excellent knowledge in the field of<br>
ecology, biogeochemistry, or related field, and preferably also<br>
post-doctoral and teaching experience. Candidates must have a record of<br>
publication in high-quality, international journals that demonstrates<br>
his/her suitability for the position.<br>

*About the employment *The position of Assistant Professor is a fixed-term<br>
contract aimed at the acquisition of academic<br>
qualifications. The employment is full-time (100%) research for four years<br>
with starting date as soon as possible.<br>

CIRC is part of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science at Ume=<br>

and aquatic processes, to understand ecological dynamics and biogeochemical<br>
