<li>Serve as the agency Spokesperson, effectively
communicating with the media on atmospheric and
climate sciences, as well as other NOAA Boulder
programs, operations and issues.</li>
<li>Build relationships with journalists, pitches them
stories, and answers their questions.</li>
<li>Prepare NOAA experts for interviews and news
conferences, and arranges logistics.</li>
<li>Proactively writes news releases, talking points,
communications plans, letters-to-the-editor, op-eds,
and social media posts (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).</li>
<li>Provide communication advice and counsel to NOAA
Boulder leaders, scientists, and managers, with
knowledge and guidance from NOAA OCEA Director and/or
Deputy Director.</li>

I possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to
the ZA-III level (GS-12) in the Federal service which
includes (1) writing and editing news releases,
communications plans, feature articles and other written
communication materials on scientific topics related to an
organization's programs; (2) using mock interviews and
talking points to prepare officials for media interviews;
(3) using the web and social media platforms (i.e.,
Twitter, Facebook, etc.,) to communicate information to
the news media and public; and (4) building relationships
with reporters, editors, and producers to cultivate news
coverage (i.e., pitch stories, share organization
missions, etc.,).<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br>

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including
volunteer work done through National Service programs
(e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations
(e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual;

provide valuable training and experience that translates
