<div>The Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawaii invites <br>
applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to examine aquatic <br>
carbon cycling in the coastal Florida Everglades, situated in the largest <br>
contiguous mangrove forest in North America.<br>
<br>
As part of a multi-disciplinary project with investigators from University <br>
of Hawaii, Florida International University, NASA, NOAA and the National <br>
Park Service, the Postdoctoral Researcher will use autonomous instruments <br>
to make time series measurements of organic and inorganic carbon <br>
parameters, along with ancillary measurements, in a mangrove estuary.<br>
<br>
The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on <br>
performance. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. and a strong <br>
background in Biogeochemistry. The candidate will be based in South <br>
Florida at Florida International University and will participate in <br>
regular fieldwork in the Everglades.<br>
<br>
The successful applicant will join a research group focused on studying <br>
transport and mixing in natural waters, and carbon cycling in coastal <br>
environments. In addition to a background in Biogeochemistry, experience <br>
with autonomous instruments (in particular pH, pCO2, and O2 and CDOM) as <br>
well as measurements of carbon parameters is preferred (in particular, <br>
pCO2, pH, alkalinity, DIC, DOC, and δ13C). It is expected that the <br>
candidate will actively participate in the publication of results from <br>
experiments in the Everglades.<br>
