<b><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Lecturer Position in
Biogeosciences </span></b><o:p></o:p>

style="font-size:11.0pt"> The Faculty of Geosciences and the
Environment at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) wishes
to appoint a Lecturer in the domain of Biogeosciences.
Responsibilities will be divided approximately between
research (c. 50%), teaching (c. 30%), and laboratory
management (c. 20%). This position will reinforce the
Biogeosciences laboratory at the Institute of Earth Surface
Dynamics (<a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://www.unil.ch/idyst">www.unil.ch/idyst</a>). </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"
style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;text-align:justify"><span
style="font-size:11.0pt">The successful candidate will be
involved in teaching at both BSc and MSc levels and must be
fluent in French (as most of the courses are taught in this
language) and English. In the MSc in Biogeosciences program (<a
moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.biogeosciences.ch">www.biogeosciences.ch</a>),
the following topics will be part of the teaching : global
biogeochemical cycles, selected topics in advanced
biomineralization, and methods for studying soils (lab
courses). The lecturer will also participate and organize
field courses and the supervision of Bachelor, Master, and PhD
students, and will take part in the management of labs at the
Institute of Earth Surface Dynamics.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"
style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;text-align:justify"><span
style="font-size:11.0pt">Preferably, the candidate must have
worked and published in one or more of the following fields:
soil biogeochemistry, formation and diagenesis of terrestrial
carbonates, terrestrial carbon cycle. He/she must have an
excellent experience of fieldwork, particularly in temperate
and tropical environments.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

style="font-size:11.0pt">The position is for two years, but
may be renewed for a further two years if performance is
satisfactory. An appointee who proves to be exceptional has
the opportunity to demand tenure as a Maître d’Enseignement et
Recherche (senior lecturer) during his/her second period of
appointment.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

in Geology, Environmental Science, or Physical Geography, with
particular expertise in one or more of sedimentary petrology,
soil science, or the biogeochemistry of weathering and should
have completed at least one full year in a post-doctoral
position. We are particularly interested in candidates who
have demonstrated their capacity in research at the interface
of biology and geology and who are also committed to both
undergraduate teaching and post-graduate supervisions.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
