objective to improve our understanding of the human impact on climate via land use. The group investigates the role of land management for past and future climate, including its potential to mitigate climate change. The work involves the development of a forest
management module in the Earth system model of the MPI-M (MPI-ESM) to simulate the interactions of forest management, climate, and the carbon cycle.</span></div>

implementation of various management methods. On this basis, research questions on the assessment of the climatic effects of a range of future land management scenarios shall be formulated and investigated. Tasks also include evaluation of carbon cycle dynamics
on local to global scale and compilation and integration of observational data of forest growth.</span></div>
