The incumbent will be responsible for conducting and
evaluating research on spectropolarimetric observations of the
Sun's atmosphere before, during and after solar flares.
Responsibilities will include writing observing proposals for
the acquisition of such data, and the reduction and analysis
of such data using IDL and FORTRAN-based software, some of
which will be developed by the incumbent.</p>

study flaring plasma and develop measurement techniques to
optimize the polarization sensitivity of existing ground-based
spectropolarimeters, particularly at the Dunn Solar Telescope.
Also works as a member of the HAO spectropolarimetry team. The
ASA research will naturally be of interest to HAO generally as
it develops the ViSP instrument for the Daniel K. Inoue Solar
telescope.</p>
