Research will focus on two subjects: (1) aggregate formation and reactive transport of colloids in porous media, and (2) fungi-, plant- and microbe-mediated weathering of serpentine minerals. Results will be applied to understanding transport and remediation of asbestos in the environment, working in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment with Drs. B. Casper, R. GiereĢ, D. Jerolmack, J.K. Willenbring, and D. Yates. Experience with TEM and SEM techniques is preferred. This project is funded through an NIEHS Superfund Research and Training grant to the University of Pennsylvania, and postdocs will engage broadly with environmental and health scientists. Positions provide competitive salary and benefits. Support is available initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
