*SITE MANAGER – LUQUILLO LONG-TERM ECOLOGICAL RESEARCH PROGRAM*<br>

The Department of Environmental Science of the University of Puerto<br>
Rico-Río Piedras Campus is seeking a Site Manager to assist the Luquillo<br>
Long-Term Ecological Research Program (LUQ) Principal Investigators in<br>
coordinating research taking place in and around El Yunque National<br>
Forest in eastern Puerto Rico. LUQ is part of a network of LTER sites<br>
(<a href="http://lternet.edu" target="_blank">lternet.edu</a> <<a href="http://lternet.edu" target="_blank">http://lternet.edu</a>>) located in the US, Antarctica, and<br>
the south Pacific committed to place-based, long-term studies of key<br>
ecological issues.<br>
<br>
We seek a dynamic and resourceful individual with a Master’s of Science<br>
or a Ph.D. in Biology, Ecology, Earth, or Environmental Science with<br>
broad interests and experiences as well as strong organizational skills.<br>
Required abilities include 1) excellent interpersonal and leadership<br>
skills to communicate verbally and in writing with scientists and<br>
support staff, and to supervise technicians, interns, and students who<br>
assist with data collection and entry; 2) experience with fieldwork and<br>
strong managerial and quantitative faculties, in order to coordinate<br>
day-to-day research activities at El Verde Field Station, a key LUQ<br>
field site; 3) administrative skills that will facilitate ability to<br>
serve as a liaison among various individuals, institutions and agencies<br>
conducting LUQ research, including US university partners and the USDA<br>
Forest Service; and 4) a high level of proficiency with word processing,<br>
spreadsheet, relational databases, and graphics software. Preferred<br>
skills include knowledge of Spanish, budget and grant preparation, and<br>
experience working in tropical countries.<br>

This is a full-time Special Appointment based at El Verde Field Station<br>
in Río Grande, Puerto Rico. Compensation is commensurate with<br>
experience, and includes a benefits package with health care. A Special<br>
Appointment signifies that time served at the position cannot contribute<br>
to time served in any future tenure-track or other permanent position at<br>
the University of Puerto Rico. Interested applicants should submit a<br>
