<br>Located at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, the staff
member will assist in the maintenance and application of a global radar
network in support of DOE's Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM)
Climate Research Facility (<a href="http://www.arm.gov">http://www.arm.gov</a>) at its North Slope of
Alaska (NSA) and ARM Mobile Facility 3 (AMF2) sites in Barrow and
Oliktok, Alaska. The ARM Program operates and maintains of a network of
fixed and mobile sites providing data to the climate research community.
ARM sites include a broad array of instrumentation including radars,
lidars, radiometers, and meteorological sensors. Recently ARM expanded
its suite of cloud and precipitation radars in number and capability.
<br>
<br>The successful candidate will perform operational checks, routine
preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ARM¿s radars
operating at C-band through W-band frequencies. The position will
require interaction on a daily basis with site managers, ARM's radar
engineers and scientists to assess the status of radars and recommend
appropriate courses of action. Travel 12 to 20 weeks per year to remote
DOE facilities in Alaska and elsewhere. Willingness to work in cold
(down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit in winter), remote field environments.
