<span style="font-size:12.0pt">Beginning Fall 2014, a NSF funded PhD research assistantship is available at the Desert Research Institute (Reno campus) and Department of Geological Sciences & Engineering at University of Nevada, Reno to study landscape evolution,
fluvial terrace formation, and channel incision rates of the Buffalo National River in Arkansas.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Applicants should hold a M.S. in geosciences (or related field) and have demonstrated course work in geomorphology, a record of academic excellence (3.5 or higher GPA and > 70<sup>th</sup> percentile in combined
Verbal and Quantitative GRE preferred), strong communication skills, and field experience. Students with a background in geomorphology and prior experience with luminescence and/or cosmogenic dating techniques and/or ground penetrating radar are especially
encouraged to apply. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">The successful applicant will work with scientists at several universities nationwide, USGS, and the National Park Service who are conducting research on the Buffalo National River. The successful applicant
will also have the opportunity to participate with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and have access to a wide variety of facilities at DRI.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
