The University of Akron is searching for an Assistant Professor position that<br>
will focus on one of the following areas: structural geology, surface<br>
processes and/or tectonics. Current faculty members serve approximately 40<br>
M.S. students and 130 undergraduates majoring in geology, geophysics,<br>
engineering geology, environmental science, geographic information systems<br>
and geography. Tenure-track candidates must possess a Ph.D. in a<br>
geosciences field at the time of employment. They must also demonstrate<br>
effective communications skills, strong potential to develop an externally<br>
funded research program as evidenced by a robust publication record and grant<br>
submissions as well as excellent teaching potential in their area of<br>
expertise. Competitive candidates will demonstrate the potential to augment<br>
existing expertise within the department as described below.<br>

This candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research<br>
program in one or more of the following areas: structural geology, surface<br>
processes and/or tectonics. Responsibilities include a commitment to<br>
research and teaching. Teaching duties will include graduate courses in<br>
candidate's specialty, structural geology, introductory courses and summer<br>
field camp. Preferred qualifications include post-doctoral experience, a<br>
clear vision of future research endeavors and a plan for obtaining external<br>
funding. Candidate's specialty should enhance existing departmental core<br>
courses in geology.<br>
