                                        <p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&#39;Times New Roman&#39;">The Department of Geography at the University of California, Los Angeles invites applications for a
full-time tenure-track position at the </span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&#39;Times New Roman,Bold&#39;">Assistant Professor </span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&#39;Times New Roman&#39;">level in </span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&#39;Times New Roman,Bold&#39;">Coastal Geography</span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&#39;Times New Roman&#39;">. We invite
applicants working on present or future biophysical, social, and/or economic issues pertaining to the
coastal zone. Applicants with a strong background in quantitative and/or geospatial approaches are
encouraged to apply. We seek a scholar with demonstrated research expertise in one or more of the
following areas:

                                        <p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&#39;Times New Roman&#39;">1) Physical, biological and/or biogeochemical processes in the coastal zone<br>
2) Coastal zone environmental, social and economic sustainability<br>
3) Impacts of sea level rise/storm surge on coastal zone environments and communities
4) Impacts of exogenous inputs on coastal waters<br>
5) Impact and management of coastal ecosystems and fisheries
</span></p>
                                        <p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&#39;Times New Roman&#39;">The appointment will begin July 1, 2014. A Ph.D. in Geography or a closely related field is required
by the time of appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with education, experience, and
qualifications.
</span></p>
                                        <p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&#39;Times New Roman&#39;">UCLA&#39;s Department of Geography is among the top ranked geography departments in the nation and
it, with the University as a whole, offers a multi-faceted faculty from a variety of subfields working on
environmental change and sustainability using a diverse set of approaches. UCLA has a large number
of researchers engaged in coastal projects, spread across multiple departments, and seeks to expand its
expertise to coincide with the opening of City Dock #1 at the Port of Los Angeles, a 28-acre campus
containing the Southern California Marine Institute (SCMI), additional marine science, education, and
outreach facilities, and a marine technology incubator.
