<div>The Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, located in Pasadena, California invites applications for a full-time scientist position to investigate atmospheric sounding systems and their use in atmospheric and climate research. The
applicant will join the AIRS Atmospheric Science group of the Climate, Oceans and Solid Earth Science Section.</div>

<div>Emphasis will be given to scientists with experience using multi-sensor, multi-platform satellite data to carry out investigations of atmospheric moist processes and/or climate studies related to the hydrologic cycle in the atmosphere. Full salary support
is expected to be available for up to three years, during which time the successful applicant is expected to develop an externally funded research program. The ideal candidate will have experience with the Suomi NPP satellite and sensor systems and other related
sensor systems and data sources, such as AIRS, AMSU and correlative data sets.</div>

<div>Applicants at the junior career level are invited, although the successful applicant should have a Ph.D. with at least two years of experience and an established reputation as evidenced by a significant record of peer-reviewed publications. The incumbent
is expected to collaborate with other researchers, analyze and interpret data from an array of satellite instruments used to measure atmospheric parameters, with a particular emphasis on the Suomi NPP sounder suite, and participate in establishing the science
foundation and requirements for future space missions. Opportunities exist for developing collaborations with nearby universities such as the Caltech, UCI, USC and UCLA through the recently established UCLA-JPL Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science
and Engineering focusing on observations and modeling of regional climate change/variability. Familiarity with AIRS, MODIS, AMSU and CloudSat is highly desirable.</div>
