<p class="MsoNormal">The FlowTrans Initial Training Network is a unique environment for career development, built on joint challenges of Industry and University partners in a newly emerging supra-disciplinary field, spanning from Physics to Earth Sciences and
aiming to understand Flow in Transforming Porous Media. The network includes the Universities of Glasgow, Grenoble, Hebrew University, Strasbourg, Warsaw, Oslo, Copenhagen and Münster plus private partners Magnitude and Offshore RGE as well as associate partners
CSIRO, AMPHOS 21, IEI and IRIS.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial"></font> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> The research themes of FLOWTRANS relate to the characterization and the understanding of fluid flow and chemical reaction within rocks and granular media. This has become an ever-increasing problem in Earth Sciences, Physics, and in many
industrial applications, including CO2 sequestration, hydrocarbon migration, ore deposit development, and radioactive waste disposal. One of the main problems is the understanding of flows in transforming porous media, where the rocks and fluid pathways evolve
spatially and temporally, for example due to chemical interactions with the flow, or due to compaction of the solid matrix. The dynamic feedbacks between flow, destruction of permeability due to compaction or local precipitation, and creation of permeability
due to dissolution, chemical reaction or fracturing, makes understanding of such complex systems a challenge.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial"></font> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> Your background should come from fields such as Earth Sciences, Mineralogy, Geophysics, Material Sciences or Physics. You are a good team player and interested in new challenges. You are open to living in a new country and willing to travel
to workshops and meetings with other partners. You are able to take over responsibilities and leader roles within the network and you are an excellent communicator (good command of both written and spoken English).</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> We offer fellow training at the host institute and in 6 distinct network congresses in simulation, experimental, numerical and field techniques. In addition training will incorporate management, communication and career development. The
FlowTrans environment is a mix between public and private sectors and fellows will visit and work with a variety of partners. <span> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> ONLY APPLY IF YOU FULLFILL THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">All fellows have to fulfill mobility criteria, they will not have lived more than 12 months within the last 3 years in the country of the fellowship. In addition an ESR has to have less than 4 years of research experience. An ER has to
have a PhD and less than 5 years research experience OR in case of an applicant without a PhD, more than 4 but less than 5 years of research experience. Years of research experience are defined from the date of a Masters or equivalent Diploma entitling enrolment
in a PhD.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial"></font><span></span> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> The ESR positions are planned to start around June/July 2012 and the ER positions between November 2012 and January 2013 (however, there is some flexibility).</p>
