Job Title: Break Free From Plastic  (BFFP) Corporate Campaign Coordinator

Reporting to: the BFFP  Global Coordinator



Who we are:



Break Free From Plastic is a global movement envisioning a future free 
from plastic pollution. Since its launch in September 2016, nearly 2,000 
organizations from across the world have joined the movement to demand 
massive reductions in single-use plastics and to push for lasting 
solutions to the plastic pollution crisis. These organizations share the 
common values of environmental protection and social justice, which 
guide our work at the community level and represent a global, unified 
vision.

The Role:



As Corporate Campaign Coordinator, you will work with BFFP member 
organizations to develop and  facilitate the roll-out of  joint 
campaigns and globally coordinated initiatives based on an agreed and 
unified strategy to transform the practices of global corporations 
responsible for majority of plastic packaging and single-use plastic waste.



You will facilitate the work of a global team of campaigners, experts, 
changemakers and individuals towards the achievement of key corporate 
campaign objectives in line with BFFP’s vision of a future without 
plastic pollution.



The right candidate will be willing and able to:



●      Facilitate the development and implementation of an agreed 
movement-wide strategy to shift corporate behavior on plastics and other 
single-use packaging.

●      Track all of the elements of the  aforementioned strategy, 
ensuring significant  movement participation in key activities, and 
achievement of metrics and indicators.

●      Project manage coordinated efforts involving corporate entities, 
through mostly digital but also occasionally in-person activities.

●      Facilitate engagement of global BFFP members in planned, 
coordinated peaks of digital and some in-person activities, including 
provide strategic planning, support, and training (where necessary).

●      Provide compelling written content for campaigns and partner 
organizations, in conjunction with the BFFP Communications Hub.

●      Communicate and engage directly with BFFP members to ensure 
alignment across campaign plans and strategies.

●      Advise and oversee elements of special projects associated with 
corporate campaigning.

●      Research and deliver written and verbal reports on relevant 
research, as needed.

●      Liaise with leadership from other parts of the movement, 
including anchor organizations,  regional nodes and coordinators, and 
the Steering Committee.

●      Ensure that the principles of inclusivity and justice are 
integrated into BFFP’s corporate strategy and campaigning.

●      Schedule and facilitate meetings (mostly virtual, across multiple 
time zones).

●      Assist with logistics and planning for 1 or 2 in-person meetings 
per year.

●      Manage project budget in partnership with the Global Coordinator.

●      Lead the evaluation of relevant projects as well as overall 
impact of the corporate strategy.

●      Represent the movement in external and relevant fora,  based on 
an agreed set of protocols governing movement representation.



Desired Skills and Qualifications:



●      University degree

●      Significant experience with corporate campaign work, including 
setting targets, developing communications, and coordinating a coalition 
of actors to support.

●      Exceptional project management skills and  demonstrated 
experience working with flexible timelines and clear deliverables.

●      Strong alignment with the principles of environmental justice and 
BFFP movement values of trust, respect, diversity inclusion and equity.

●      Awareness of and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of 
individuals, organizations and communities from diverse cultures, 
backgrounds and orientations.

●      Comfort and flexibility in communicating across time zones and 
native languages (though English is the expected primary language).

●      Strong ability to communicate complex issues, tailored to target 
audiences

●      Strong skills in capacity building, training and knowledge transfer

●      Commitment to the creation of a diverse, equitable and inclusive 
work culture that encourages and celebrates differences

●      Analytical skills and high degree of attention to detail.

●      Ability to thrive in a self-directed environment with flexibility 
and evolving priorities.

●      Ability to effectively deliver on expectations set with member 
organizations and a primary support team.

●      Ability to generate new ideas and work in a team.

●      Ability to work under pressure.

●      Fluent in English both written and spoken. Other languages are 
added value.





Additionally, we would consider it a bonus  if you have:



·       A keen understanding of the plastic pollution supply chain and 
its key drivers, effective solutions, and current issue points.

●      An understanding and appreciation of the  principles of movement 
building.



Compensation:

Compensation for this role will be competitive and commensurate with 
experience and ability. The successful candidate will be employed by 
GAIA (Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives), a US-based 
nonprofit organization.



Location: flexible; must be able to travel at least 25% of the time, 
including internationally
