*Position Description*

*The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lehigh University is
currently seeking a full-time **Director of Instrumentation.* The Director
of Instrumentation will manage advanced analytical instruments, including
an ion chromatograph, multiple gas chromatographs (GC-FID, GC-TCD, GC-MS),
an inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer and related equipment. The
successful candidate will also provide fabrication, mechanical, and
electronic support for field and laboratory equipment, support general
operational needs (e.g., lab safety and chemical waste procedures), and
engage in the intellectual interests of the department.



*About Lehigh*

Located in Pennsylvania's beautiful Lehigh Valley in Bethlehem, PA USA,
Lehigh is a private research university with a rigorous academic community
encompassing more than 7,000 students. The Department of Earth and
Environmental Sciences (EES) is Lehigh’s home for teaching and research in
the areas of ecology, environmental science, and geological sciences. The
EES Department has M.S. and Ph.D. graduate programs in addition to
undergraduate B.A. and B.S. programs.



*Qualifications and Experience*

Qualifications for the Director for Instrumentation position include: [1]
Master's Degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering or related field, or
equivalent combination of education; [2] Experience working in a laboratory
required; [3] Experience with analytical equipment operation and
maintenance, chemical analysis, isotope chemistry, and laboratory operation
preferred; [4] Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; [5] Solid
analytical and problem solving skills, ability to work independently; [6]
Solid basic software and computer skills; and [7] Successful completion of
standard background checks.
